about

Octeta is a musical creation collective founded in 2019 and composed of female professional musicians from the São Paulo scene.

As a means of not establishing limits, functions or hierarchy, their working method gives all of them freedom to compose, arrange or just play their instruments.

They find inspiration in circles of women in rescuing issues derived from a patriarchal structure which historically reserved men the chance to seek constant dedication to musical development.

Octeta's music is mainly influenced by Hermeto Pascoal's "universal music" concept, with lots of space for improvisation, diversity of languages, accents and timbral explorations.
