about

Apotheosis is Stefano Moliner’s second release as a leader and a follow-up to Miração (2018). Once again, the compositions are inspired by esotericism, occultism, metaphysics and concepts from Theosophy, Thelema and ancient cultures such as Tibetan budism and Sumerian mythology.

As the track titles sugest, this concept album addresses the idea of individual journey in human evolution, an arduous process towards cosmic splendor, the apotheosis itself, a status of god.

Beyond the reminiscences of Indian mantras, one can hear influences that range from jazz-fusion classics such as Wayne Shorter’s Weather Report, Chick Corea’s Return To Forever and John McLaughlin’s Mahavishnu Orchestra to hard-rock and progressive music (Black Sabbath, Yes, etc.) with a Brazilian twist courtesy of masters Hermeto Pascoal and Milton Nascimento.
